About

Established around 1988, Bishops Riding Club provides a wide range of activities for its members from training and competitions, to days out and social meals.

Bishops Riding Club is an affiliated member of the British Riding Clubs, which is part of the British Horse Society and is a member of Area 2.

Based in and around the County Durham area, the club has many members, 17 years old and over, of varying abilities with different wants and needs.

The club runs regular training sessions with various different instructors and at different locations. Our training includes showjumping, cross country and flatwork/dressage training. We cater for those who are just starting out as beginners to those who are already established competitors and for those who don’t want to ride at all!

Our teams and individual competitors are very successful in the area competitions, regularly qualifying for national championships and even becoming national champions in various disciplines. We always encourage all of our members to have a go at the competitions and be part of our teams. Within Area 2 there are now grass roots competitions for people to “dip their toes” into competing.

But we are not all about the competitions. We meet for pleasure rides, Christmas meals, BBQ’s  and various other social events to bring everyone together so please come along, we’d love to meet you!

We would like to remind all members that Bishops Riding Club is YOUR club so the committee, which meets monthly, will try to organise the things that you would like to do so please tell us your wishes! With our new website it will be a great way for you to communicate with your committee so let us know what you would like to do.
